- Open Telegram and start a chat with:
@BotFather - Send:
/newbot - Choose a bot name and username.
- Copy the bot token BotFather gives you.
- Open a chat with your new bot.
- Send it any message so Telegram creates a real chat record.
Connect Telegram notifications to ModePilot
You only need two values for ModePilot: a bot token and your personal chat ID. Create the bot first, send it a message, fetch the chat ID, then save both values in Integrations.
What you need before you start
- A Telegram account.
- A bot token from BotFather.
- Your chat ID from a real message sent to that bot.
Setup steps
- Open this URL:
https://api.telegram.org/bot<YOUR_TOKEN>/getUpdates - Find the latest message object.
- Copy
message.chat.id. - If the response is empty, send the bot another message and reload.
- Open Integrations.
- Choose Telegram.
- Paste the bot token and chat ID.
- Choose whether Telegram should notify you on all mode changes or only important changes.
- Click Save settings to store the configuration.
- Use Save and send test to save the current values and confirm the message arrives.
Common problems
- The bot token is wrong or incomplete.
- The chat ID came from the wrong payload.
- You never sent the bot a direct message first.
- The bot has no recent messages yet.
- You checked before messaging the bot.
- The token in the URL does not match the bot you created.
