Configure working hours and boundaries in ModePilot

Set your weekly work windows in Schedule, including separate windows for split shifts. Schedule determines when working hours and recovery apply; Modes determines which Slack status, availability and notification settings ModePilot applies at those boundaries.

Choose Setup guide beside the Work Schedule heading to review your existing settings. Skipping or completing the guide suppresses automatic prompts for your account in this browser; you can reopen it from the same button.

Setup example

Configure a split workday with a protected gap

For a Monday with work from 09:00–12:00 and 14:00–18:00, create two windows rather than one long window covering the break.

  1. Open Schedule and find Monday under Weekly schedule.
  2. Set the first window's Start time to 09:00 and End time to 12:00.
  3. Choose + Add window, then set the second window to 14:00–18:00.
  4. Leave Flexible finish off for this example, so the baseline windows determine the finish.
  5. Check the timezone shown on the page, then choose Save schedule.
  6. Open Modes and expand After hours to configure the Slack behavior you want outside those windows. Save your mode changes separately.

The baseline schedule treats 12:00–14:00 as outside working hours and resumes the second window at 14:00. That gap does not by itself guarantee silence in Slack: the result depends on your After hours settings, event rules and any active override. Slack status, active/away availability and DND are separate controls.

Use Date exceptions for a particular date that differs from the weekly pattern. Leave Workday reset time at 00:00 for an ordinary daytime schedule. For overnight shifts, choose a reset after the usual shift ends; activity before that reset belongs to the preceding workday.

Recovery

How late-meeting recovery works

Trigger

If a qualifying late meeting runs past the configured cutoff time, schedule can hold outside-working-hours behavior into the next morning.

End condition

Opening the next scheduled work window does not automatically end recovery. Recovery ends at its configured end time; active calendar modes selected under Modes that can interrupt recovery can take precedence before then. Manual overrides can also change the effective mode.

For example, enable Late meeting recovery under Policies, set Late meeting cutoff time to 22:00 and Recovery end time to 10:30, then choose Save schedule. With a midnight workday reset, a qualifying calendar meeting ending at 22:30 can carry recovery into the next morning, even if the next work window starts at 09:00. Review Modes that can interrupt recovery so an eligible morning event behaves as intended.

Recovery uses the qualifying calendar event's scheduled end, rather than detecting when you actually leave a call. Configure its Slack output in the Late meeting recovery section of Modes.

Flexible finish

Dynamic day endings without magic

Flexible finish means the workday may end earlier than the regular boundary or extend later when qualifying work continues. Use baseline windows, earliest finish, extension policy, and hard caps together instead of relying on hidden assumptions.
